Writing is 1 percent inspiration, and 99 percent elimination.

New superintendent poses challenge to #spsdme administrators:  write an “elevator speech”–in 30 seconds or less, describes work that you will do during 2015-2016 to support the district action plan.  

“We will grow the learning commons model at the elementary level with the development of a makerspace.  Through project-based learning experiences, students will be involved in designing the physical space, defining the purpose of the space, and promoting a maker culture at Dyer.  Students and staff will access the Dyer “fab lab” for Makers’ Club, Staff Genius Hour, and to support rich content projects.

Goals in each of the 4 action plan areas will be supported through this work :

  • learning by providing a venue for less traditional, more messy development and application of knowledge through creation
  • teaching by promoting instructional experiences that involve students in authentic, meaningful explorations and activities
  • schools by fostering collaboration among students and staff across grade levels and schools
  • community by building connections between learning and living “
